My background is in farming & engineering and have been self employed since
1956.
One of my earliest memories is having my mother telling my grandmother not to buy Charles toys as he will just pull them
to bits! whereupon I made sure that in future I was able to put things back together when I had figured out how they
worked!
When it came to getting the sharpening up and running I just used the same experiance that most farmers have to figure
it all out.
In 1992 Elizabeth and I took a year off to drive around North America and one of the things I did was to source some
equipment to sharpen clipper blades, when we got it home we found that it was about 1/2 right and spent the next 2 years working
with a brilliant engineer friend developing a machine that would work.
The result of all the hard work payed off with a custom built piece of equipment that is at least as good as
the factory sharpening, and having made it myself I also know how it works, and more importantly how to maintain it.

Charlie and I started the business while traveling by motor home around Australia
I used to help out with the cleaning and assembly of blades in the early days, when I longed to have a home
and a garden again I based myself in Melbourne.
from there I have taken on the job of doing the accounts and the paperwork for the business and fielding the
many phone calls, sales and people that drop in blades etc for Mary.
This is a very challenging position that keeps me busy full time however I love the job and the many people
that I get to talk to during the course of the day, be it on the phone or at the door.

I of course also have a farming background which teaches reponsiblity and stick
ability, I have worked in everything from a supermarket to dairy farming to cleaning and on to a large can making plant
as a training co-ordinator and assistant supervisor I have been around the engineering sector for many years. I pride myself with being down
to earth and ready to help where ever I can. I came into the business when my daughter Jasmine was born in
2001 starting off with just a few blades and scissors every week and as word spread that the service was avalible
and quick my part of the job grew rapidly into something that keeps me fully employed. I am responsible for
the postal work ( Which arrives from the NT to Tas and almost everywhere inbetween) I also look after the many people
that come to my workshop, this is a real challange in the summer when we are all so busy so phoning through for an appointment
will ensure that you are not left with blunt blades and dogs lining up to be groomed If you have ever posted in
your equipment then the chances are that I have done it for you. I love the job and the people that surround the
dog and animal grooming industry I admire the work that you all do and will look forward to doing business with you for many
years to come.
